About Me
PERSONAL STATEMENT
Unique structures, colors that stand out and designs that make heads turn have always interested me. I believe that architecture can make any space visually aesthetic and change how one would look at it. As Christopher Wren once said ‘Architecture aims at eternity,' what better way to achieve eternity than to create structures of the future from our ideas and art today.
I have always been passionate about art. Art, a fantastic world, intrigues me. I admire the art and beauty of everything around me be it paintings, music, people of different backgrounds, places, or structures – both natural and human-made. Besides art, I also love dancing and reading. I believe art helps nurture one's soul and makes us expressive. It has inspired me to retain individuality in everything I do. I consider myself as a person who loves life and looks forward to learning from new experiences, places, and people. I also like to travel and see buildings of historical importance as well modern structures. What inspires me is the ability of humanity to think differently and challenge the limitations to build something which may have been considered as inconceivable before.
I belong to New Delhi, the capital city of India known for its rich history, cultures, and traditions and have been brought up in Dubai, that is known for its dynamic lifestyle, skyscrapers, and heritage. Visits to the monuments and structures of importance in New Delhi have made me appreciative of historical architecture and their stories. Watching Dubai evolve has taught me to appreciate the combination of traditions with modern designs and ideas. Here, people from all over the world, from different walks of life live together in harmony.
I am also compassionate towards the needs of society and wish to contribute. So I decided to volunteer at Amar Jyoti Charitable Trust in New Delhi. The trust works to support the disabled children and make them capable of competing in the real world. I had the chance to intern at the therapy cell, the vocational training unit, and the school at the institution. It was enlightening to see the children having so much strength to go through all the pain with smiles on their faces. Spending 4 weeks there taught me that everyone has their challenges and must defeat them.
In my view, a building is much more than bricks and mortar; it is a space where people live, work, and socialize. Studying economics has made me realize the issue of population growth and we need to make sustainable designs for everyone and come up with innovative designs which can reduce costs and make projects profitable both for the developer and the user. As a responsible citizen, I am aware of the importance of architectural patenting. I learned this from an Intellectual Property Rights Awareness Competition held by the Dubai Customs I participated in and also won the 1st prize for. In the duration of the competition, we went out into the community and spread awareness on IPR. This also enhanced my public speaking skills and made me more confident.
To channel my creativity, I also keep an art journal where I experiment with different art styles and express myself. Along with my ability to play with art & designs, I am also good with numerical ability. Scoring excellent grades in Mathematics has enriched my analytical skills and made me more focused. These qualities make me an excellent choice for this course. I tend to challenge the typical with an aim to improve from what it is today. I believe that constant endeavor to enhance brings out the best results. I would like to see my thoughts getting translated into meaningful structures.
With training and guidance from experts in Architecture, I believe that this will be the right profession for me. Universities in the UK have a reputation for exceptional faculty and facilities which gives me the confidence of being in expert hands and the satisfaction that my stay away from home will be equally comfortable.
